Polynormalization

Polynormalization - IOS Géosciences
Finding concrete anomalies

Soil geochemistry is a commonly used mineral exploration tool, but it is all too often misinterpreted!

Identifying anomalous grades is a complex task, as several phenomena, such as the presence of organic matter and fluctuations in water levels and physicochemical conditions (Eh, pH), control the abundance of ions circulating in the secondary environment.

Over numerous campaigns, IOS Geosciences has developed a data processing method that levels out the effect of these parameters and improves discriminating between regional background noise and anomalous grades. This series of operations, known as polynormalization, is applied to mobile metal ion (MMITM) and Ionic LeachTM.

The polynormalization of soil data is a method exclusive to IOS Geosciences and continues to be the subject of research and development to heighten its reliability further. The technique is currently being developed to interpret lake sediments.
