The ARTGold™ technology has revolutionized gold exploration in glacial sediment–covered terrain. Since its introduction in 2014, this technology has enabled the physicochemical characterization of over 225,000 gold grains from till samples.
Heavy minerals, including gold grains and precious metal minerals (PMMs), are concentrated using an IOS Geosciences–patented method that reduces a 10 kg till sample to a superconcentrate of around 100 mg.
These concentrates are then scanned for grains of interest using one of our two scanning electron microscopes (SEM).
Each gold grain is measured, analyzed, and classified according to its morphology using machine-learning algorithms. For each sample submitted, you obtain not only the number of gold grains and PMMs but also the wide range of other heavy minerals it may contain.
ARTGold™ technology is equally suited to lithium exploration projects by searching for associated tantalum and tin minerals.
